Abstract
The construction industry plays a crucial role in shaping the urban landscape and supporting economic development. However, the environmental impact of construction activities, particularly in terms of resource consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, has raised concerns about the sustainability of current practices. Amongst various construction materials, concrete is one of the most widely used due to its versatility and durability. The optimization of concrete mix design presents an opportunity to enhance the sustainability of construction projects by reducing environmental impact, improving performance, and enhancing cost-effectiveness. This thesis aims to investigate and develop strategies for optimizing concrete mix design to promote sustainable construction practices. The research will focus on identifying key factors that influence the performance and sustainability of concrete mixes, such as the selection of raw materials, proportioning of ingredients, and curing methods.
