Urban areas face increasing challenges related to stormwater management due to rapid urbanization and climate change impacts. Traditional drainage systems often fail to effectively manage stormwater runoff, leading to urban flooding, water pollution, and degradation of aquatic ecosystems. Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) offer an innovative and environmentally friendly approach to stormwater management in urban areas. This thesis explores the implementation of SuDS in urban areas and evaluates their effectiveness in mitigating stormwater issues while promoting sustainable urban development. The study begins with an introduction to the importance of sustainable drainage in urban areas, highlighting the need for alternative approaches to stormwater management. The background of the study provides context on the challenges associated with traditional drainage systems and the benefits of incorporating SuDS into urban planning and design.
