The successful implementation of performance management systems is crucial for the sustainable growth and competitiveness of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). This thesis investigates the challenges and opportunities associated with implementing performance management systems in SMEs through a detailed case study approach. The study aims to identify the factors influencing the adoption and effectiveness of performance management systems in SMEs, as well as the impact of these systems on organizational performance. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, including the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of key terms. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review covering ten key areas related to performance management systems in SMEs, including theoretical frameworks, best practices, challenges, and success factors. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology employed in this study, detailing the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, and data analysis procedures.
