Climate change is a significant global challenge with far-reaching implications for biodiversity and ecosystem functioning. In tropical rainforest ecosystems, which harbor a vast array of plant species, understanding the impacts of climate change on plant diversity is crucial. This thesis investigates the effects of climate change on plant species diversity in a tropical rainforest ecosystem, focusing on how changing environmental conditions influence plant community composition and structure. The study begins with an introduction that provides background information on the topic, outlines the problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance of the study, and defines key terms. A comprehensive literature review in Chapter Two synthesizes existing knowledge on the relationship between climate change and plant species diversity in tropical rainforests. This chapter explores ten key aspects, including the mechanisms driving changes in plant diversity, the role of climate variables, and the potential impacts on ecosystem functioning.
