Thesis Abstract

<p> This project aims to investigate the role of plant volatiles in plant-insect interactions. Plants emit a wide range of volatile organic compounds that can attract or repel insects, influencing their behavior and interactions with the plant. Understanding the specific roles of plant volatiles in plant-insect interactions is crucial for developing sustainable pest management strategies and enhancing beneficial insect attraction. In this study, we will conduct laboratory and field experiments to assess the effects of selected plant volatiles on insect behavior, including attraction, feeding, and oviposition. We will use behavioral assays, electrophysiological techniques, and chemical analyses to characterize the volatile profiles of different plant species and their effects on insect responses. The findings from this study will contribute to our understanding of plant-insect chemical communication and aid in the development of novel approaches for insect pest control and pollinator conservation. <br></p>
