Abstract
This thesis examines the convergence of traditional art techniques with digital technology in the creation of mixed media artwork. The intersection of these two distinct realms offers a rich and dynamic landscape for artistic exploration and innovation. Through a comprehensive literature review, this study explores the historical background and theoretical underpinnings of both traditional art and digital technology, highlighting their unique characteristics and contributions to the art world. By analyzing existing research and artworks, this thesis seeks to identify the key trends, challenges, and opportunities that arise from the fusion of traditional and digital art practices. The research methodology employed in this study involves a combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches, including case studies, surveys, and interviews with artists and experts in the field. By examining a diverse range of mixed media artworks, this research aims to identify the techniques, tools, and processes that artists use to integrate traditional and digital elements in their creations. The findings of this study shed light on the ways in which artists navigate the complexities of working across different mediums and technologies, as well as the impact of these hybrid practices on the art world. The discussion of findings in this thesis delves into the key themes that emerge from the analysis of mixed media artworks, including the blurring of boundaries between physical and digital spaces, the democratization of art production through digital tools, and the redefinition of artistic authorship and authenticity in the digital age.
