Abstract
This thesis investigates the impact of cultural diversity on art education curriculum in secondary schools. The study aims to explore how cultural diversity influences the content, teaching methods, and student learning experiences within the art education curriculum. The research is motivated by the recognition that contemporary society is characterized by increasing cultural diversity, necessitating a reevaluation of how art education can effectively engage students from diverse cultural backgrounds. The study is guided by a qualitative research approach, utilizing interviews, observations, and document analysis to gather data from art educators, students, and curriculum materials in selected secondary schools. The introductory chapter provides a comprehensive overview of the research context, including the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, and the structure of the thesis. The literature review chapter critically examines existing scholarship on cultural diversity in art education, highlighting key concepts, theories, and empirical studies that inform the research. The research methodology chapter outlines the research design, data collection methods, sampling strategy, data analysis techniques, and ethical considerations employed in the study. Findings from the study reveal that cultural diversity has a profound impact on the art education curriculum, influencing the selection of artistic content, instructional strategies, and assessment practices. The discussion chapter synthesizes the research findings, drawing connections between cultural diversity and curriculum development in art education.
