The rapid urbanization of cities has led to the proliferation of informal settlements or urban slums that house a significant portion of the global population. These communities often face challenges related to inadequate housing, lack of basic services, and social exclusion. In response to these pressing issues, this thesis explores the design of sustainable and inclusive housing solutions for urban slums. The research focuses on addressing the unique needs and aspirations of slum dwellers while promoting environmentally friendly practices and social integration. Chapter 1 provides an introduction to the research, presenting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of terms. Chapter 2 offers a comprehensive literature review, examining existing studies and projects related to sustainable housing design, urban slums, inclusive urban development, and community participation. Chapter 3 outlines the research methodology, including the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, and data analysis procedures.
