Urban areas around the world are facing the challenge of revitalizing historic spaces, particularly abandoned industrial buildings, to meet the changing needs of society. This thesis explores adaptive reuse strategies for transforming these vacant structures into vibrant and sustainable spaces that contribute to the cultural and economic vitality of urban environments. The research begins with an examination of the background of the study, highlighting the historical significance and architectural value of abandoned industrial buildings. The problem statement identifies the challenges associated with repurposing these structures, including issues related to preservation, sustainability, and community engagement. The objectives of the study are to analyze successful adaptive reuse projects, identify best practices, and develop recommendations for revitalizing historic urban spaces. Through a comprehensive literature review, ten key themes emerge related to adaptive reuse strategies, architectural design principles, sustainable practices, community involvement, and economic benefits.
