The global population is rapidly urbanizing, leading to increased demand for affordable housing in urban areas. However, the traditional approach to housing design and construction is often unsustainable and fails to address the social, economic, and environmental challenges faced by urban communities. This thesis explores sustainable design strategies for affordable housing in urban areas, aiming to provide insights into innovative solutions that can enhance the quality of life for urban residents while promoting environmental stewardship and social equity. The research begins with a comprehensive literature review in Chapter Two, which examines existing studies on sustainable housing design, affordable housing initiatives, and urban planning strategies. Through this review, key concepts and principles related to sustainable design and affordable housing are identified, providing a theoretical framework for the subsequent chapters. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology employed in this study, detailing the data collection methods, sample selection criteria, and analytical techniques used to investigate sustainable design strategies for affordable housing in urban areas.
