Abstract
This thesis investigates the impact of archaeological sites on tourism development in a selected region, aiming to shed light on the relationship between archaeological heritage and tourism as well as the potential economic, social, and cultural benefits that arise from such sites. The selected region for this study is known for its rich archaeological history, attracting visitors from around the world. The research methodology employed a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches, including surveys, interviews, and site observations to gather data on visitor demographics, motivations, experiences, and perceptions. Chapter One provides an introduction to the topic, presenting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of key terms. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review, examining existing studies on the impact of archaeological sites on tourism development, the motivations of visitors to such sites, and the role of heritage tourism in economic development. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology, detailing the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, ethical considerations, and limitations of the study. The chapter also discusses the selection criteria for the archaeological sites in the chosen region and the rationale behind the choice.
