The well-being of animals in captivity, particularly elephants, has become a subject of increasing concern in recent years. This study investigates the impact of environmental enrichment on the welfare of captive elephants. The research aims to explore how providing enrichment activities and stimuli can enhance the physical and psychological health of elephants living in captivity. The study utilizes a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data analysis with qualitative observations to provide a comprehensive understanding of the effects of environmental enrichment on captive elephants. Chapter one introduces the research topic by discussing the background of the study, presenting the problem statement, outlining the objectives, specifying the limitations and scope of the study, emphasizing the significance of the research, and providing the structure of the thesis. Chapter two comprises a comprehensive literature review that examines existing research on environmental enrichment for captive elephants. This chapter discusses the theoretical framework and previous studies related to the impact of enrichment on animal welfare.
