Abstract
The poultry industry plays a critical role in ensuring food security and economic sustainability globally. The health and performance of poultry are influenced by various factors, including nutrition and gut health. Probiotics have gained attention as a potential natural solution to improve growth performance and gut health in poultry. This study aimed to investigate the effects of probiotic supplementation on the growth performance and gut health of poultry. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, highlighting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, and structure of the thesis. The definitions of key terms related to the study are also presented. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review on probiotics, poultry nutrition, growth performance, gut health, and the interactions between probiotic supplementation and poultry health. This chapter synthesizes existing research to establish the theoretical foundation for the study. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology, including the research design, sample selection, data collection methods, probiotic supplementation protocol, measurements of growth performance, and gut health parameters. The chapter also discusses data analysis techniques and statistical tools employed in the study. Chapter Four presents a detailed discussion of the findings obtained from the research. The effects of probiotic supplementation on growth performance indicators such as feed conversion ratio, body weight gain, and feed intake are analyzed. Additionally, the impact of probiotics on gut health parameters, including gut microbial composition, immune response, and intestinal morphology, is discussed. Chapter Five concludes the thesis by summarizing the key findings and implications of the study. The practical applications of probiotic supplementation in enhancing growth performance and gut health of poultry are highlighted. Recommendations for future research and practical implications for the poultry industry are also provided.
