Thesis Abstract

This research project aims to assess the impact of different flooring materials on claw health in dairy cattle. The flooring surface in dairy barns plays a crucial role in the overall well-being and productivity of dairy cows. Claw health is a critical aspect of dairy cattle management, as lameness can lead to reduced milk production, decreased fertility, and compromised animal welfare. This study will compare the effects of various flooring materials, including concrete, rubber mats, and deep-bedded systems, on claw health indicators such as claw lesions, hoof growth, and locomotion scores. The findings of this research will provide valuable insights into the optimal flooring material for promoting claw health in dairy cattle and contribute to the development of best management practices in dairy farming.
