Abstract
This research project aims to investigate the impact of social media usage on mental health among teenagers. Social media platforms have become an integral part of daily life for many individuals, particularly teenagers who are heavy users of these platforms. The study will explore the potential links between social media usage patterns, such as time spent online, types of activities engaged in, and the impact on various aspects of mental health, including self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and overall well-being. The research will utilize a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather comprehensive data on teenagers' social media habits and their perceived mental health outcomes. The surveys will assess the frequency and duration of social media use, preferred platforms, interactions with others online, and self-reported mental health indicators. The qualitative interviews will provide deeper insights into the subjective experiences and perceptions of teenagers regarding social media and its effects on their mental well-being. The study aims to identify potential risk factors associated with excessive social media use and its impact on mental health outcomes among teenagers. By examining both the quantitative and qualitative data, the research seeks to uncover patterns and trends that may shed light on the complex relationship between social media usage and mental health. The findings of this study can inform parents, educators, mental health professionals, and policymakers about the potential risks and benefits of social media for teenagers. The research project also intends to explore potential interventions and strategies to promote positive mental health outcomes among teenagers in the context of social media use.
