Thesis Abstract

<p>Food losses during post-harvest storage pose a significant challenge to global food security and sustainability. This study aims to evaluate various post-harvest storage techniques to mitigate food losses and improve the shelf life of agricultural produce. The research will focus on assessing the effectiveness of different storage methods, such as cold storage, modified atmosphere packaging (MAP), controlled atmosphere storage (CAS), and post-harvest treatments, in preserving the quality and extending the shelf life of perishable crops. The study will consider factors such as temperature, humidity, gas composition, and packaging materials to determine the optimal storage conditions for different types of produce. Additionally, the research will investigate the impact of storage techniques on nutritional content, sensory attributes, and microbial safety of stored crops. The outcomes of this study will provide valuable insights into the selection and implementation of appropriate post-harvest storage techniques, enabling farmers, food processors, and distributors to reduce food losses, enhance food quality, and ensure a more sustainable food supply chain.
