Abstract
This thesis explores the application of mobile technology in enhancing agricultural extension services in rural communities. The study aims to investigate how mobile technology can be leveraged to provide timely and relevant information to farmers, improve communication between extension agents and farmers, and ultimately enhance agricultural productivity and livelihoods in rural areas. The research begins with an in-depth examination of the current state of agricultural extension services in rural communities, highlighting the challenges and limitations faced by both farmers and extension agents. It then delves into the theoretical framework underpinning the use of mobile technology in agricultural extension, drawing on concepts from communication theory, technology adoption, and extension education. A comprehensive literature review is conducted to explore existing studies, models, and frameworks related to the use of mobile technology in agricultural extension services. The review covers topics such as the impact of mobile technology on agricultural development, best practices for designing mobile-based extension services, and factors influencing the adoption and use of mobile technology among farmers and extension agents. The research methodology section outlines the research design, data collection methods, and analysis techniques employed in the study. Data is collected through surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions with farmers, extension agents, and other stakeholders involved in agricultural extension services. The findings are analyzed using qualitative and quantitative methods to identify patterns, themes, and insights related to the use of mobile technology in agricultural extension.
