Abstract
This thesis explores the utilization of mobile technology to enhance agricultural extension services in rural communities. The study acknowledges the essential role of agricultural extension services in disseminating information, providing training, and supporting farmers to adopt best practices. However, challenges such as limited reach, high costs, and lack of timely information dissemination hinder the effectiveness of traditional extension approaches in rural areas. Mobile technology offers a promising solution to address these challenges by providing a cost-effective, scalable, and real-time communication platform. In this research, a mixed-methods approach was employed to investigate the impact of mobile technology on improving agricultural extension services in rural communities. The study involved a comprehensive review of existing literature on mobile technology and agricultural extension, as well as interviews and surveys with farmers, extension workers, and technology experts. The findings revealed that mobile technology can significantly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of agricultural extension services by facilitating timely communication, providing access to relevant information, and promoting interactive learning among farmers.
