Abstract
This thesis explores the use of mobile technology to enhance agricultural extension services in rural communities. The rapid advancement of mobile technology has opened up new opportunities to improve communication and information sharing in the agricultural sector. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of leveraging mobile technology to provide relevant and timely information to farmers in rural areas, ultimately enhancing their agricultural practices and productivity. The research methodology employed in this study includes a comprehensive literature review to examine existing studies and frameworks related to mobile technology in agricultural extension services. Data collection methods such as surveys, interviews, and field observations were used to gather insights from farmers, agricultural extension workers, and other stakeholders involved in the implementation of mobile technology in rural communities. The findings of this study reveal that the use of mobile technology has a significant impact on improving access to agricultural information, market prices, weather forecasts, and pest management techniques for farmers in rural areas. The study also identifies key factors that influence the adoption and success of mobile technology in agricultural extension services, including infrastructure availability, affordability of mobile devices, digital literacy, and user acceptance. The discussion of findings highlights the potential benefits of utilizing mobile technology in agricultural extension services, such as increased productivity, improved decision-making, and enhanced communication between farmers and extension workers. The study also addresses challenges and limitations associated with the implementation of mobile technology in rural communities, including connectivity issues, language barriers, and sustainability concerns. In conclusion, this thesis underscores the importance of integrating mobile technology into agricultural extension services to bridge the information gap and empower farmers in rural communities. The findings of this study provide valuable insights for policymakers, practitioners, and researchers seeking to leverage mobile technology for sustainable agricultural development. Recommendations for future research and practical implications are also discussed to guide further efforts in enhancing agricultural extension services through mobile technology.
