Abstract
This thesis investigates the economic analysis of sustainable agriculture practices in smallholder farming, focusing on a specific region. Sustainable agriculture is increasingly recognized as a crucial approach for ensuring food security, enhancing environmental sustainability, and improving rural livelihoods, particularly among smallholder farmers. However, the economic implications and feasibility of adopting sustainable practices in smallholder farming contexts remain underexplored, especially within the context of the specific region under study. The study is structured into five main chapters. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, including the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, and the structure of the thesis. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review, examining existing knowledge on sustainable agriculture practices, economic analysis in agriculture, smallholder farming systems, and relevant theories and concepts. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology employed in this study. It details the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, and ethical considerations. The chapter also discusses the limitations and challenges encountered during the research process. In Chapter Four, the findings of the study are extensively discussed. The economic analysis of sustainable agriculture practices in smallholder farming is presented, focusing on the specific region under study. The chapter explores the costs and benefits of adopting sustainable practices, the impact on agricultural productivity and profitability, as well as the socio-economic implications for smallholder farmers. Finally, Chapter Five summarizes the key findings of the study and provides a conclusion based on the analysis of the data.
