Abstract
Climate change poses a significant threat to agriculture, particularly affecting smallholder farmers in developing countries who rely heavily on agriculture for their livelihoods. This thesis examines the economic impacts of climate change on smallholder farmers in developing countries through a case study approach. The study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how climate change affects smallholder farmers economically, with a focus on the challenges they face and the strategies they adopt to cope with these challenges. The research methodology includes a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather data from smallholder farmers in a selected developing country. The data will be analyzed using statistical methods and thematic analysis to identify key patterns and themes related to the economic impacts of climate change on smallholder farmers. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the existing literature on climate change and agriculture by providing insights into the specific economic challenges faced by smallholder farmers in developing countries. The study also aims to identify potential policy interventions and adaptation strategies that can help smallholder farmers mitigate the economic impacts of climate change and build resilience in the face of future climate challenges. Overall, this thesis seeks to shed light on the complex interplay between climate change, agriculture, and economic development in developing countries, with a specific focus on the experiences of smallholder farmers. By understanding the economic impacts of climate change on smallholder farmers and exploring potential solutions, this research aims to inform policy decisions and interventions that can support the sustainable livelihoods of smallholder farmers in the face of a changing climate.
