Abstract
The research project aims to investigate the impact of social media on mental health among adolescents. Social media has become an integral part of daily life for many young people, with platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter dominating their online interactions. While social media offers numerous benefits, including the ability to connect with others and access information, concerns have been raised regarding its potential negative effects on mental well-being. This study will explore how social media usage patterns, such as time spent online, types of content consumed, and interactions with others, are associated with mental health outcomes in adolescents. The research will utilize a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews to gather comprehensive data on the subject. The survey will assess participants' social media habits, mental health symptoms, and perceptions of their well-being. The interviews will provide a deeper understanding of the ways in which social media influences adolescents' mental health. The findings of this research will contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the relationship between social media and mental health in adolescents. By identifying the specific factors that are associated with negative mental health outcomes, this study aims to inform interventions and strategies to promote healthier social media use among young people. The results may also have implications for mental health professionals, educators, and policymakers working with adolescents. Overall, this project seeks to shed light on the complex interplay between social media and mental health in adolescents. By examining both the positive and negative aspects of social media use, the research aims to provide a more nuanced understanding of its impact on young people's well-being. Ultimately, the goal of this study is to contribute to the development of evidence-based guidelines and recommendations for promoting positive mental health outcomes in adolescents in the digital age.
