Abstract
This research study focuses on the effects of social media usage on mental health among adolescents. With the growing popularity and widespread use of social media platforms among teenagers, concerns have been raised regarding the potential impact on their psychological well-being. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between social media usage patterns and various aspects of mental health, including self-esteem, depression, anxiety, and overall psychological well-being. The research will utilize a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys to gather data on social media usage habits and mental health indicators, as well as qualitative interviews to explore the subjective experiences and perceptions of adolescents in relation to social media. The study will involve a sample of adolescents aged 13-18 from diverse backgrounds to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the topic. The quantitative analysis will examine correlations between different social media platforms, frequency of use, content consumption, and mental health outcomes among participants. It will also explore potential moderating factors such as age, gender, and socio-economic status. The qualitative component of the study will provide insights into the ways in which social media influences adolescents' self-perception, relationships, and emotional well-being. The findings of this research are expected to contribute to the existing literature on the effects of social media on mental health, particularly among adolescents. By identifying specific patterns and behaviors associated with negative mental health outcomes, this study aims to inform interventions and strategies to promote healthier social media usage among teenagers.
