Abstract
This research project aims to investigate the impact of social media on mental health among adolescents. Social media has become an integral part of daily life for many young people, with platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat being particularly popular. While social media offers various benefits such as connectivity, information sharing, and entertainment, there is growing concern about its potential negative effects on mental well-being, especially among adolescents. The study will utilize a mixed-methods approach to explore the relationship between social media use and mental health outcomes in adolescents. Quantitative surveys will be administered to a sample of adolescents to assess their social media usage patterns, perceived impact on mental health, and levels of anxiety and depression. In addition, qualitative interviews will be conducted to delve deeper into the subjective experiences and perceptions of adolescents regarding social media and mental health. The research will also examine potential moderating factors such as the type of social media platform, duration of use, content consumption, and peer interactions. By analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data, the study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how social media influences the mental health of adolescents. The findings of this research can have important implications for parents, educators, mental health professionals, and policymakers. By gaining insights into the relationship between social media use and mental health outcomes, stakeholders can develop strategies to promote positive online experiences and support adolescent well-being. Additionally, the study aims to raise awareness about the potential risks associated with excessive or harmful social media use and highlight the importance of promoting digital literacy and responsible online behavior among young people.
