Abstract
This research project investigates the impact of social media on the mental health of adolescents. The study aims to explore how the use of social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat affects the psychological well-being of teenagers. The research methodology involves a combination of quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather data from a sample of adolescents aged 13-18. The findings suggest a strong correlation between excessive social media use and increased feelings of anxiety, depression, and loneliness among teenagers. Moreover, the study identifies specific factors on social media that contribute to these negative mental health outcomes, including cyberbullying, social comparison, and the addictive nature of these platforms. The research highlights the need for increased awareness and education about healthy social media habits among adolescents, as well as the importance of parental involvement in monitoring and guiding their children's online activities. Overall, this research contributes to the growing body of literature on the intersection of social media and mental health, emphasizing the unique challenges faced by adolescents in the digital age. The findings underscore the importance of promoting positive online behaviors and fostering a supportive environment for young people to navigate the complex world of social media with resilience and self-awareness.
