Abstract
This research project aims to investigate the impact of social media on mental health among teenagers. The study will explore how social media usage affects various aspects of mental health, including self-esteem, body image, anxiety, and depression. A mixed-methods approach will be used to gather data, combining quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews to provide a comprehensive understanding of the subject. The quantitative aspect of the study will involve distributing surveys to a sample of teenagers to assess their social media usage patterns and mental health status. The surveys will include standardized measures to evaluate self-esteem, body image satisfaction, anxiety levels, and symptoms of depression. Statistical analysis will be conducted to identify any correlations between social media usage and mental health outcomes. In addition to the surveys, qualitative interviews will be conducted with a subset of participants to gain deeper insights into their experiences with social media and mental health. The interviews will explore the ways in which social media impacts their self-perception, relationships, and overall well-being. Thematic analysis will be used to identify common themes and patterns in the qualitative data. By combining quantitative and qualitative data, this study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between social media and mental health among teenagers. The findings will contribute to existing research on this topic and may have implications for mental health interventions and social media usage guidelines for young people. Overall, this research project seeks to shed light on the complex interplay between social media and mental health in the lives of teenagers. By examining both the quantitative and qualitative aspects of this relationship, the study aims to provide valuable insights that can inform future research and practical interventions in this area.
