Abstract
Small scale industries play a crucial role in the economic development of Imo State, Nigeria. However, these businesses face various accounting and management problems that hinder their growth and sustainability. This research project aims to identify and analyze the accounting and management challenges experienced by small scale industries in Imo State. The study will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative research methods. Data will be collected through surveys, interviews, and document analysis. The research will focus on small scale industries in various sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, and services to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the issues faced by these businesses. The findings of this study will provide valuable insights into the specific accounting and management problems confronting small scale industries in Imo State. Common challenges such as lack of access to financial resources, inadequate record-keeping practices, poor financial management skills, and limited knowledge of accounting principles are expected to be identified. Furthermore, the research will explore the impact of these challenges on the performance and sustainability of small scale industries in Imo State. By understanding the root causes of these problems, policymakers, industry stakeholders, and business owners can develop targeted interventions to address the issues and support the growth of small scale industries in the region. Recommendations based on the research findings will be provided to assist small scale industries in Imo State in improving their accounting and management practices.
