Thesis Abstract
Abstract
Training and development in public sector organizations in Nigeria have been identified as a critical issue that impacts the overall efficiency and effectiveness of these organizations. This research aims to investigate the challenges faced in training and development initiatives within the Nigerian public sector and explore potential solutions to address these issues. The study will utilize a mixed-methods approach, combining both quantitative data analysis and qualitative interviews with key stakeholders in public sector organizations. The quantitative analysis will involve a survey of employees across various public sector organizations to gather data on the current training programs, perceived effectiveness, and areas of improvement. In addition, qualitative interviews will be conducted with human resource managers, training coordinators, and employees to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced in implementing training and development initiatives. These interviews will also explore the impact of budget constraints, lack of resources, and bureaucratic procedures on training programs within public sector organizations. Findings from the research will provide insights into the specific training needs of public sector employees in Nigeria and highlight the gaps in the current training and development programs. Recommendations will be made on how to enhance the effectiveness of training initiatives, including the adoption of innovative training methods, collaboration with external training providers, and the development of a strategic training plan aligned with organizational goals. The research is expected to contribute to the existing literature on training and development in public sector organizations, particularly in the Nigerian context. By identifying the challenges and proposing solutions to improve training programs, this study aims to support public sector organizations in enhancing the skills and capabilities of their employees, ultimately leading to improved service delivery and organizational performance. Overall, this research seeks to address the problem of training and development in public sector organizations in Nigeria by providing actionable recommendations that can help these organizations overcome the challenges they face in implementing effective training programs for their employees.
