Abstract
This study aims to compare the academic performance of junior secondary school students in accounting between internal school assessments and external examinations. The research will focus on evaluating the effectiveness of internal assessment methods in predicting students' performance in external examinations in the specific subject of accounting. The study will be conducted by collecting and analyzing data from junior secondary school students who have taken both internal assessments and external examinations in accounting. The research will utilize both quantitative and qualitative research methods to examine the relationship between internal assessments and external examination results in accounting. Quantitative analysis will involve statistical techniques to determine the correlation between students' scores in internal assessments and their performance in external examinations. Qualitative analysis will involve interviews and surveys with students and teachers to gather perceptions on the effectiveness of internal assessments in preparing students for external examinations. The study will also explore the factors that may influence students' performance in internal assessments compared to external examinations in accounting. These factors may include teaching methods, assessment formats, student motivation, and exam preparation strategies. By identifying these factors, the research aims to provide insights into improving accounting education in junior secondary schools to better prepare students for external examinations. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the existing literature on educational assessment and student performance in accounting. The comparison between internal assessments and external examinations in accounting will provide valuable information for educators, policymakers, and stakeholders in the education sector. Understanding the relationship between internal assessments and external examination results can lead to the development of more effective teaching and assessment practices to enhance students' academic performance in accounting. Overall, this research project will provide a comprehensive analysis of the academic performance of junior secondary school students in accounting, comparing internal assessments with external examinations.
